This is a scam 10+ years and 400 million and counting. Stay away don't waste your time. We need to file a class action lawsuit.

First of all: obviously is a scam after more than 10 years and hundreds of millions.

Also, with the last update, my 2 months old and powered PC was broken by the game. THIS PEOPLE ARE THE DEVIL. DONT BUY. JUST RUN.

Bruh I pre-ordered the game six years ago and we get nothing yet, not even a playable demo

Over 11 years in development, over 500 million in revenue and reportedly 700 employees

The development is progressing very slowly and without a concept or even a sensible sense of priorities

In their own forum (spectrum), the White Knights can insult and threaten as much as they want, but if you say something critical, you are already banned, no matter how friendly you say it (totalitarian and censorship are normal in Spectrum)


The best thing is that a lot of energy and time goes into it making it impossible for the "backer" to get your money back

Purchased a newly-released item that had been falsely advertised (specifications were revised on the store after purchasing).
Have attempted to request a refund in line with the Consumer Rights act. I received a bot response, and have been completely ignored for over a month since.

A copy/pasted reponse claims "the pledge cost has already been applied to development" as their justification for refusing a refund, despite RSI/CIG being legally obligated to provide compensation, or refund.

Be warned, if you purchase anything, there is a risk that it could be retroactively made less than it was originally advertised. Your only means of recompense for this is to take them to small claims and have a CCJ issued, as they will completely ignore you otherwise.

Well, it's kind of fun to play right now. The graphics are beautiful, there's a decent amount of stuff to do, and at the cost of $45 or less during sales to get a paid account and play the game without any limits, it's really not a bad deal overall.

Reports of this being a scam are nonsense. People are just annoyed that the game is taking forever - and will probably, really, take much longer still, to reach a final release stage. It is what it is. Definitely avoid if you're not OK with bugs and an early access model. If you can still enjoy it anyway despite major bugs and the early access model though, Star Citizen has genuine value with frequent updates, relatively transparent development, and a hell of a crazy amazing vision for what the finished product should be.

Fraudulent company. I payed £62 for Star Citizen which was unplayable and crashed every 10 minutes.
Then a year later they introduced new 2 factor security login which meant I couldn't login.
I contacted support to ask them to update my email address so I could login and actually play the game I paid for...
They refused as they said I had to provide info that was sent to that email address which is no longer active. They now ignore all emails and also won't refund me. So I paid £62 for a game that I played for half an hour and is now locked out and no refund.
Scammers.

Be aware of this scam.

Terrible, repeatedly fail to live up to promises. Customer support are rude and ignore emails and messages.

They have a transparent development process but they seem to have to little focus on core gameplay. The space ships still feel like flying a paper airplane and the gun gameplay is still very lacking. Hoping for improvements but it's not on the roadmap

A game that it is worth waiting

I've started to follow the game in 2013, and the advancement is huge.
Despite all these critics, primarily from players who never look for the game before and can't understand that a good game takes time.

even if you get some expensive package, you'll not be better tank to a good balance. People need to understand that CIG is a company who need to make cash to continue to improve the game by years.

They are trying to create the best game ever, all you need is patience.

After 6 years and after stupidly spending over a $1000 on ships all we have is an Alpha which is unplayable. The Star Citizen Alpha is massively buggy....yes we all know its an Alpha and there is not much content as there is testing and unforeseen problems can occur, but after 6 + years all we have is a massively buggy alpha and a frame rate from the 80s, you would think you were trying to play the game on a 286 or an Amiga, its practically unplayable. They have been given all this money and yet they cant even get a standalone version out with nearly $200 MILLION and a 6+ YEAR time period and yet they are still asking for money for ships that haven't even been created. I would not advise anyone to give anymore money to this company until the standalone version Squadron 42 is released. Check out glassdoor.co.uk to see how chaotic the company is being run and comments about haemorrhaging money.... and this is from previous employees.
